Kilimanjaro Climb-7 days Machame Route Itinerary
Duration: 7 Days 6 Nights

Day 1: Kia-Moshi Area
You will be welcomed on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transferred to Moshi for relaxation and overnight stay. We will brief you and check your trekking gears before your embark on your Kilimanjaro climb.

Day 2: Moshi – Machame Gate – Machame Camp
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven to Machame Village where your guides and porters will prepare and pack your equipment and supplies. After registering at the park office, you will start your ascent and enter the rainforest immediately. Heavy rains on this side of the mountain often transform the trail into a soggy, slippery experience, so good footwear, walking poles and gaiters are useful. You will enjoy a lunch stop halfway up and reach Machame Camp in late afternoon. Your porters will arrive at camp and erect your tent before you arrive. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your cook. Dress warmly. Night temperatures can drop to freezing at Machame camp.

Day 3: Machame Camp – Shira 2 Camp.
Its an area with an elevation from2,980m to 3,840m and a hiking time of 4-6 hours and a Moorland habitat after your breakfast at Machame Camp. Climb for an hour to the top of the forest, followed by 2 hours of hiking through gentle moorland. After a short lunch and rest, continue up a rocky ridge onto the Shira Plateau where you will be able to see Kilimanjaro’s great Western Breach with its stunning glaciers. Sometimes, the walls of the Western Breach are draped with extensive ice curtains. You are now west of the Kibo volcanic cone where Uhuru Peak is located. After a short hike westward, you will reach the Shira campsite. The night at this exposed camp will be colder, with temperatures dropping below freezing. Make sure you put layers of clothing on to keep warm.

Day 4: Shira-Lava Tower-Barranco Camp
The Hiking time is up to 7hrs with an approximate 15km with a Semi Desert Habitat. After an early Morning Breakfast you will be heading to Semi Desert and the rocky Landscape.A 5hr walk to East the Lava Tower with 4630m will be face to face and have a lunch will be served and depending on the weather climbing the tower and descend to Barranco Camp 3950m.Its located in the valley below the great Barranco wall and view the sun set and overnight at the camp.

Day 5: Barranco-Karanga
The Hiking time is between 4-5hrs and approximately 5km with Alpine Desert. Its a Day to conquer the Great Barranco Wall. Its a short hike and at the top,you will have a view to Heim Glacier. The trail then winds up and down in the Karanga Valley. You will spend the night at Karanga Camp (3950m) and enjoy dinner and washing at the site.

Day 6: Karanga Camp-Barafu Hut
The Hiking time is 2-3hrs with an approximately distance of 4km and an Alpine Desert Habitat. Soon after breakfast the ascent through the trails that intersects with Mweka route mostly used to descend on the final days.Reaching at Barafu Hut 4550m which is located on the rocky and exposed ridge and wind.Early dinner will be served as hikers are required to rest before attempting the summit the same night.

Day 8: Mweka Camp-Mweka Gate
This is a hike of 3hrs with approximately 15km through a forest habitat. Following a well-deserved breakfast, your staff will have a big celebration full of dancing and singing. It is here on the mountain that you will present your tips to the guide, assistant guides, chef(s), and porters. After celebrating, you will descend for three hours back to Mweka Gate. The National Park requires all hikers to sign their names to receive certificates of completion. Hikers who reached Stella Point (5685m) receive green certificates and hikers who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates. After receiving certificates, hikers will descend into the Mweka village for 1 hour (3 kilometers). You will be served a hot lunch then you will drive to Arusha for long overdue showers and more celebrations and overnight

Day 9:Arusha-Ndutu Area
Depart Arusha in the morning and drive to Ndutu area located inside Serengeti NP where you will find the Great Migration herds in a half day game drive. It is here that the wildebeest remain for up to 6 months of the year to give birth to calves and nurture the young before migrating again lunch in the bush and overnight in Ndutu Safari Lodge or similar lodge.

Day 10: Ndutu Area Serengeti
This is a full day game drive and view to the migration and predators hunting around the big herds of wildebeest and zebras.Lunch in the picnic site and overnight in Ndutu Safari Lodge or similar lodge.

Day 11: Ndutu-Katikati.
Enjoy an early breakfast then depart for game drives in the Ndutu and Serengeti with your expert guide. The Ndutu area and southern Serengeti are the best place for the annual wildebeest migration. For up to six months of the year the huge herds remain in and around this area – so it is an excellent base from which to camp.Lunch at the picnic site and overnight at Kati Kati Tented Camp or similar camp.

Day 12: Full Day Game drive in Serengeti.
As its where there is a greatest congregation of animals in the world a full day game drive deserves as you are in the central migratory zone.Lunch in the picnic site and overnight in Kati Kati cam or similar camp.

Day 13: Serengeti-Olduvai Gorge-Ngorongoro
In the morning after breakfast drive to Olduvai Gorge where the discovery of early man was Made by Dr.Leakey for a day briefing and lunch in the site and late afternoon drive to the crater rim for dinner and overnight in Sopa lodge or similar lodge.

Day 14: Ngorongor Crater-Arusha
Leave very early in the morning for game viewing in Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the Ngorongoro crater to view the wildlife on the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is often called “Africa’s Eden” and the “8th Natural Wonder of the World”.Lunch in the river bed habited by hippos and Leave the crater in the afternoon and drive back to Arusha for relaxation and overnight or airport.

Day 15: Arusha-Kilimanjaro Airport or Nairobi Transfer.
After a leisurely breakfast depending on your booking,you can go for an optional tour around Arusha town to visit the Maasai Market, Cultural Heritage, Arusha Museum of Natural History, curio shops, or the Tanzanite Experience before transfer to KIA or Nairobi.
