Wake up and “Welcome to Tanzania” following breakfast stroll around the gardens down to the river. This day is yours to relax and recover from jet-leg. If you would like to spend the day reading a book or just taking in the view you can do so, the alternative is to have an early afternoon game drive in Arusha National Park. This park is often missed out by safari companies and guests alike, eager to reach the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, forgetting Arusha Park. Arusha National Park is a fabulous sanctuary for wildlife it is just 1 ½ hours away from the Lodge and reputed to have the highest density of giraffe on earth. Elephant, hippo, bushbuck, zebra, hyena and buffalo can also be found here. Within the park, The Momella Lakes are a cluster of shallow alkaline lakes to the East of the park, which attract seasonal flocks of flamingo and migrant birds.

Cannoning is the other exceptional thing to do while visiting the park. Ngurdoto is a small crater measuring approximately 6 square kilometers and is home to a resident group of wildlife. The Crater is inaccessible by vehicle but several viewpoints dotted around the rim afford excellent views of the congregated wildlife within its confines as well as sweeping vistas to Mount Kilimanjaro.
